Neuromodulators are a great treatment option for dynamic lines and wrinkles – those lines and wrinkles caused by muscle movement and facial expression. Neuromodulators work by blocking muscle contraction, which in turn cause wrinkles. Over time, this allows existing wrinkles and lines to smooth over, while also preventing future ones from forming, creating a more refreshed and rested appearance. The full effect of these injectables can take up to one week. Neuromodulators are safely absorbed and will last approximately four months. In addition, neuromodulators can be used to shape the face (Jaw reduction), smooth out the neck (Nefertiti neck lift) and to treat patients with excess sweating, with results lasting up to 1 year. Neuromodulators are among the most popular cosmetic treatments available for both men and women. In our office, Dr. Gharavi ensures that the results of your neuromodulator treatment are natural, so you don’t leave looking plastic or frozen. A list of the common neuromodulators offered in our practice are:

OTHER USES OF NEUROMODULATORS:
NEFERTITI NECK LIFT
The platysma muscle is a broad, superficial muscle that stretches from the jaw to the lower neck. An overactive platysma muscle is a major depressor in the lower face. When it contacts the platysma muscle blunts the jawline, sags the lower face and lowers the corners of the mouth. In the Nefertiti Lift, neuromodulators are injected at several sites along the patient’s jaw line and neck. The effect of the injections is to enhance the jaw line, soften the jowls, uplift the corners of the mouth and give the effect of a mini lift. The Nefertiti Lift is minimally invasive and an effective alternative for patients wanting lower face rejuvenation without surgery.
NON-SURGICAL JAW REDUCTION
Enlargement of the the chewing muscles (masseter muscle) can cause a widened or square jaw. By injecting neuromodulators into the masseter muscle, the facial width and size of the masseter can be reduced. This reduction softens and enhances the appearance of the lower face achieving the ideal “upside down egg” appearance. Dr. Gharavi tailors his treatment to achieve the longest lasting and most natural results.
TREATMENT OF EXCESS SWEATING (HYPERHIDROSIS)
Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) is causes by overactive sweat glands, which receive stimulation from on a chemical called acetylcholine. Neuromodulators act by blocking the release of acetylcholine. Hyperhidrosis is commonly seen in the underarms, hands and feet. By injecting neuromodulators into these areas, we can safely and effectively reduce sweating for six month or longer. Contrary to many oral medications and surgery, Botox injections for hyperhidrosis have minimal side effects. There are no effects on sweating elsewhere or on body temperature regulation. Botox is a great treatment for hyperhidrosis patients that are irritated or sensitive to antiperspirants.
